Dalton, Ohio

Woodlyn Acres is a 2500 acre farm that grows hard red spring and winter wheat for us. In their diverse markets and rotations, they also grow ROC certified hay for neighboring grass fed dairy farms, as well as oats, spelt, corn, sunflowers, cereal rye, and soybeans.

Having regional farming partners just outside of where we grow, keeps the food miles down, while diversifying our grain production during adverse local growing conditions.

Scott is a 3rd generation farmer who helped his family transition from conventional no-till to Organic in 2014, and then to Regenerative Organic. He had to consider the affects that chemical spraying was having on his neighbors and his family’s health, not to mention his own health.

Scott loves to attend conferences and seeks out any opportunity he can to share his experiences and learn from others. He serves as the Farmer Chair on the Policy Committee for the Organic Farmers Association.

Hunt, NY

Rodney is a 4th generation farmer in the state of NY. His grandfather was a tenant farmer who was able purchase the land he was working on for only $1 during the crisis of the Great Depression. This family farm was eventually sold. After WWII his father purchased the “home farm” from which Rodney expanded his operation.

At Oxbow Organic Farm, they have grown and processed certified organic small grains since 1997. Rodney uses diversified field crop rotations on 430 acres of land. Like the rest of our farms, he is now Regenerative Organic Certified.

Oxbow grows black turtle beans, winter peas, buckwheat, clover, corn, einkorn, rye, soybeans, spelt, triticale, sunflowers, and wheat.

Rodney chose to embrace the values of the “Return to the Land” movement of the 70’s. He experimented early on with organic practices, and fully transitioned to organic after a health scare related to the chemicals they would occasionally use.

He loves being part of an organic community that shares ideas, experiences, and mentorship. He sees farming as more of a lifestyle that he was attracted to than a job, and he lives that life with love for his family and community.

Liberty, PA

Just 90 miles away, across the PA border, our friends at Provident Farms have managed a diversified row crop farm for over 20 years.

They use 5 year crop rotations, perennial cover crops, and reduced tillage practices to improve their soil health.

Dave believes that the best resource they have is the feedback and information sharing from other organic farmers, as well as educational and research farms that are willing to invest in organic farming systems experimentation.

When working with dynamic cropping systems they have to pay attention to their land, create diverse markets for all of their crops, and hope to be an example for more farms to successfully transition to organic and Regenerative Organic.

Ovid, NY

John is part of the fabric of organic farming in New York. His family has been farming in the area since the 1700’s. He is the fourth generation to farm the land that he’s on now, an operation that has managed up to 1,200 acres, but has scaled back to half of that in recent years.

He now grows spring wheat, rye, and spelt for us, and manages very diverse rotations. John comes from a long line of farmers and dairy farmers, who knew how to grow healthy food before chemicals were even a consideration.

In the 1970’s John began to reincorporate organic plots in their system, and when the market for organic food began to blossom in the 80’s he was prepared to make the full transition. He is now Regenerative Organic Certified.

John sits on advisory panels to help share his experiences and knowledge with the next generation of organic farmers and our local educational institutions who study farming practices.

Wyoming, NY

WNY Customs is a 500 Acre Regenerative Organic farm that has been working with us for the past four years to grow winter wheat and einkorn.

The Bullocks grew up on a dairy farm, and 11 years ago they wanted to start their own farm, and thought farming the ground seemed like a lot more fun!

Like some of our other farmers, they love using red clover as a cover crop to improve soil fertility, and will often frost seed it in the winter after they plant a cash crop like wheat. After the wheat is harvested the following year, there is a nice cover crop that has grown in underneath, already there.

In the near future they are excited to incorporate livestock into their rotations, and to use that on-farm organic compost as a sustainable fertility option in their rotations.

Hudson, NY

Stone House is located in the heart of the Hudson Valley, NY, where they raise organic crops on 3,000 acres while operating a feed mill that distributes feed year-round and plays a central role in the local organic food system, connecting farm-grown grains with livestock farmers, millers, bakers, and distillers across the region. Their goal is to celebrate and deepen Organic Regenerative farming in the region, with a vision of bioregional health for current and future generations.

They also grow ROC food grade grains and dry edible beans and were thrilled to partner with us to grow soft wheat for our Pastry and All Purpose flours, as well as hard red spring wheat.
