Oechsner Farms
Thor Oechsner is the grandson of a German born pastry chef, and part owner of both Farmer Ground Flour and Wide Awake Bakery. Besides being an excellent steward of the land, he is a community builder and an educator. He and his partner Dan Gladstone are established leaders of the organic grain movement in the Northeast.

In the early days of the mill, Thor connected us to a wonderful network of neighboring farms, who shared our values. He helped us source and contract the grain we needed, as we ourselves continued to grow.
Oechsner Farms reduces their environmental impact with dynamic cropping systems, and as a recognition of these efforts, they were honored with the 2025 New York AEM- Leopold Conservation award.
